IU Shares Comeback Plans In Grand Prize Speech At 35th Golden Disc Awards
IU took home the Digital Daesang at Day 1 of the 35th Golden Disc Awards!
The 35th Golden Disc Awards kicked off with their Digital Song Division on January 9. On this evening, IU won the Grand Prize known as the Digital Daesang, or the Digital Song of the Year. She also won a Digital Bonsang at the event.
In her speech, IU said, “On top of the Bonsang, it’s an honor to be receiving a Grand Prize at the Golden Disc Awards for the first time in three years. Thank you to the listeners who continuously showed their love for the song ‘Blueming’ for over a year. Thank you to the composers of the song. Thank you to my family at EDAM Entertainment. Thank you to the band team and dance team who helped me put on a great performance today. For my ‘Love Poem’ performance, I showed messages that artists wanted to send their fans through their music, so thank you to those artists for participating.”
She continued, “Thank you to those artists who kept making amazing music with the belief that even though we are in difficult times, we need music, as well as to the concert staff who are going through a really hard time right now.”
In her speech, IU also shared plans for her upcoming comeback. “I am planning to release a new album,” she said. “I think it will be a full album. I hope to release at least one song in January that can bring sincere comfort to those who are tired and suffering right now. I think I will be able to release a song that is refreshing and gives people strength. In order to become a singer that UAENA can be proud of, I will not waste a single moment in carelessness.”
